Balancing Boys (Part V): A Second Chance.

The more she thought about Nate, the more she liked him. Was it bizarre, or was it just her? She'd always entertained thoughts of guys in her head, but when push came to shove, the reality of their presence was so disappointing in comparison to their fantastical versions in her imagination.

That just wasn't the case with Nate, though.

She'd had reservations about pursuing anything with Nate, still clearly under some sort of Jake trance, but she'd strapped on her heels that night and agreed to meet him out for drinks. What a wise decision she'd made. She remembered smiling wildly as he twirled her around his finger on the dance floor, impressing her with every step he took, and with each dip to the floor. She hadn't even had a headache from her usual three glasses of Chardonnay. She'd swirled back into his brawny arms, and remembered playfully touching his cobblestone chest. Was she swooning? She'd gotten excited when he'd lifted her onto the roof of his car at the end of the night and pinned her against the back window glass. She could taste the settling beer on his tongue and for the first time ever, didn't mind the kick of it. She found herself smitten at two o'clock in the morning, but hopped off the roof before the night continued on any longer. She was a lady, she reminded herself, and adjusted her long blonde hair just so.

She smiled as she trotted off to meet her friends. But when will I see you next? Nate called out to her. That's a good question, she responded. Her eyes were wide and excited as she hopped into the passenger seat of Dave's car. Blast that music, quick! she giggled, and as the car sped away, she blew Nate a seductive kiss. He extended his arm into the air, and grabbed an imaginary something, pulling it in towards his chest. She knew she'd hear from him again soon, and soon couldn't come soon enough.
