Hybrid Hair 2011.

This year's been, without a doubt, my favorite in terms of hairstyles and hair color. It's almost as if the world of hair collaborated and bred personalized hybrid-looks just for me. Because I was particularly infatuated with this year's bold-slash-simple movement, I decided to share them with you all, plus my new favorite and lazy 'do. The past couple years have been focused around keeping your hair color natural. The Jennifers were the poster children for this look (and by Jennifers, I'm referring to Anniston's honey blonde locks and Garner's chestnut brown hair). The fewer highlighting appointments you needed to book, the more on target you were with the trend, up until now. Cue Whitney Port, Liz Lee and Taylor Momsen. While I don't particularly think any of these girls are bombshells, I can't get over their dramatic, avant garde manes. Whitney flawlessly rocks the rainbow (a white hot blend of grown-out roots bled directly into lighter shades of the same hair color -- don't be fooled by the roots and don't believe the hype; this glamorous color is not so easily-maintained), while Liz and Taylor go all-over bold with blaring red and bleach blonde mops.

The braided topknot, a much lusted over runway hairstyle, is perhaps my new favorite of the bunch.
If you've been following my blog whatsoever, you know I'm a big advocate of dual usage: the ability
to reuse an outfit or style for multiple occasions, whether they are high class or Friday-cas. The braided
topknot takes care of this requirement. Because I cannot rephrase the directions anymore eloquently than
I found them, enjoy your how-to right here.

On a side-note: If you have a twitter, you probably know that it's #Follow Friday. Because this is
Afternoon Frosting, and not twitter, may I recommend that you follow my friends who blog about
interesting things? Be sure to check out Cleats + Couture for your high fashion and sports fix, Money
Rabbit for your financial tips and Fratitude for a glimpse into the Frat house of life (this kid's pretty
 adorable, too. Just saying..)

And if you missed it, which chances are you did (unless your eyeballs caught last-night's impromptu
fashion post), catch Afternoon Frosting's The Fashionable Sailor.

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend, meet you back at the office Monday morning! x
