There's been plenty of talk about what your man might want to think about getting you for Valentine's Day, what you shouldn't waste your money on buying him for Valentine's Day, and romantic tips for spending Valentine's Day most appropriately with your beau, but I haven't exactly covered the literal sweetest part about February 14th: the sweets themselves!
Many thanks to our world's media planning for providing us with the necessities of each holiday's goodies a solid month and a half before holiday, I now have toothaches in places I didn't even know existed. My mornings, which are usually spent running to the nearest Dunkin Donuts for my caffeine fix, have lately been replaced with lazy, helping handfuls of Kiss Me, Be My Valentine and Love You! candy hearts. Maybe it's the child in me, or maybe it's the desire to rid my countertops of the pounds of candy laying in glass bowls, but I thought it would be a sweet idea to create little gift packages of love to send out to all my closest friends, guys and girls alike. After all, how better to say I love you, than give them a few fresh cavities? While I always try to steer clear from playing favorites, I reserve my best goodies for, well, my besties. I compiled a hefty list of classic and favorite love songs and stuck them on appropriately decorated pink and red CDs (so old school, right?). The vips (pronounced... vip-s) also get heaping handfuls of cherry and bubblegum-flavored jelly beans, candy hearts, M&M's and gummy worms (oh. my. God. stop) tied in clear baggies boasting layers of curly ribbon, complete with personalized love notes.
I'm, no doubt, an UBER FREAK when it comes to the holiday, but as my favorite, I feel it is my duty to spread the love. How do your friends know you can't live without them?
