A lot of girls ask me where my favorite places are to shop, and I have two different kinds of responses to this question. First off, if I had all the time in the world, an unlimited bank account and a bundle more patience than I actually have, my closet would be divided between the jewels of the fabulous LF and treasures of no-name vintage boutiques. In real life, my closet is filled with an array of items: a few pieces from LF, a handful of goodies from Forever 21, and an even bigger collection of clothes I've had for years that I just cannot seem to part with. So, in a way, I make my own kind of vintage. In order to do this, though, it takes a lot of creativity to tweak one outfit as to give it a different and unique appearance.

I'm a big fan of LF's style, and if you've never been (since their boutiques are located in New York, Connecticut, California and Florida - thanks readers!) I'm going to describe it as simple-chic, meaning the clothing concepts are basic, but feel worn in at the same time. I remember awhile back spotting an ultra-cool Mickey Mouse embellished belly-shirt all decked out in fringe in-store, and thinking: I could make this exact shirt, and save $120. So indeed I did, and you could do it too. Grab an old, ridiculous t-shirt that you have sitting in your closet, collecting dust. Don't have one? I actually purchased this one from Etsy. Cut thin, messy strips three inches from the bottom, all around the shirt, creating t-shirt fringe. Throw it in the washing machine with a capful of bleach, to achieve its vintage look, and ta-da! You've completely ripped off an LF item for a-hundredth of the price! This is just one example of a simple recycle process you can try out at home, but there are totally a million ways to copy LF's style free of charge. Now I pair my vintage Mickey tee with an ankle-length cardigan and dark, skinny jeans when I go out. Bright tube socks underneath simple Mary Janes completes this look. Sound like a super odd pairing to you? LF might just not be your cup of tea.

  2. There are many LF's in Florida (Miami, Boca, Ft Lauderdale)....the company started there.

It is not exclusive to just those 3 states, sweetheart.
