I know. WTF, right? How do you even pronounce that? Momofuku (translating to Lucky Peach) is a slew of hot spot restaurants in New York City, serving Asian-fusion cuisine, but perhaps the most tantalizing of the Momofuku lineup is their Milk Bar, or bakery, located in both the East Village and Midtown. Why should you care? Because Milk Bar serves the best (cutest, most creative, blahblahblah etcetcetc.) Birthday Cake Truffles. Besides claiming compost cookies and crack pie as their very own unique spin on classic desserts, they boast the utmost in classy-meet-cutesy sweets: appropriate nibblies for virtually any type of affair.
This morning I decided to try my hand at baking (again), seeing as the recipe I dug up looked simple enough. Indeed, I was right. Momofuku's Birthday Cake Truffles are a combination of my favorite Swedish sweet (Nigger balls... you heard me correctly. Google them) and a Dunkin Donuts glazed munchkin. I used Funfetti Cake Mix as the basis for Momofuku's truffle to save some time, and whipped these little multi-colored beauties out in a short sixty-minutes. These little munchkins have the consistency of gourmet truffles, but are easy on the eyes (and tummy!).
