Pink & Red Debauchery.

So, I bought all my CVS candy: the sugar hearts { omg }, the pink marshmallows, the chocolate kisses. The candy has replaced my bedroom-coordinated almonds and M&M's for the meantime, in preparation for Valentine's Day. Looking back, between the candy run and premature Valentine blog posts { seen here and here }, I definitely got a little too excited, especially since we still have another two and a half weeks until the day. Every year, my Valentine's Day is altered just a bit, depending on the (dreaded) romantic situation, but for the past four years, I'd been perfectly accustomed to throwing parties in honor of my still-favorite day of the year. Last year was notably memorable, as my roommate and I agreed that the only way to celebrate our final year of college was to throw the biggest love bash we knew how.

We managed to cram a whole thirty-something people into our apartment-for-two. Bottles of cheap champagne and wine flooded our sticky countertops, sloppy handmade decorations and pink and red balloons suffocated our ceilings and hallways, our infamous Shots of Love* were chugged down like the candy liqueur they were, and what seemed like pounds of chocolate, were consumed. I may not have had a boyfriend to speak of last year at this time, but from what I'm told, I did score the Valentine's kiss I was after. Nice.

This year's celebration is going to be just a little bit different. While there will be no crazy shenanigans going on in the confines of my own home, there will undoubtedly be champagne-accompanied celebrations elsewhere, festive chocolate strawberries, and my personal touch: A slew of fourth-grade style Valentine cards. A year older, a year tamer, so we hope.

Shots of Love* -- Our senior-year-shot-of-choice.

  2. Welcome! They're incredible, and addicting, especially if you're into sweet liquor.

  3. Wow, that photo of the strawberries blew me away! I've saved it on my computer. <3

I, too, have come to love Valentine's Day. And no, not because I'm married... but because I love pink, red, hearts, balloons... and an excuse to whip up a delicious meal and drink white wine. <3

  4. Thanks Erin! Valentine's Day is the BEST. Not necessary to focus on romantic love, but ALL kinds of love. That's what makes V-Day the most special. And yes, the colors and goodies don't hurt, either! Enjoy the day ;) XO
