Long gone are the days of Hopscotch and Mickey Mouse, Four Square and rubber duckies, but I work with kids... a lot. While sometimes all I want to do is curl up in a ball and drift back to the time when coloring in the lines was the most challenging of tasks, other times there's nothing more {dare I say it?} zen than kicking back and literally playing to the cheesiest of Disney tunes. Maybe it's just me, but spending tons of time with little ones makes me appreciate and long for the simple things. No?
The Merwin Meadows sandbox is the closest I'm going to get to the old carefree beach day summers now, but an overnight bag in tow filled with crayons and my composite journal, an iPod playlist of old, old favorites, a crust-cut peanut butter, banana and fluff sandwich and a handful of dad's Archie comic books bring me back to bliss, especially on dark, rainy days like the one we had today. Sometimes, life just calls for a break, and what better way to stimulate peace and quiet than dabbling in your youthful pastimes?
I spent the earlier part of the evening soaking in a cucumber melon-scented bubble bath, rereading an old-time favorite book of mine, The Giving Tree. Inspiring my post now is The Lion King's I Just Can't Wait to be King and Beauty & the Beast's Gaston.
{ I found these precious cupcakes and decided how
much fun these treats would bring to some child's birthday party }
{ The tastiest body washes and bubble suds come from Philosophy's line,
found at Sephora. *And now you can enter to win one of ten "love your skin sets" }
{ I just recently relocated an entire book shelf of old books
from my bedroom to the cabinets downstairs. While my room may have
outgrown Lucy and Linus, and Where the Wild Things Are,
I couldn't bear to permanently part with them }
{ Self-explanatory; hands down, used to keep me busy for hours.
Definitely going to pick up a bucket of sidewalk chalk in the near future }
