The Dating Pool Dilemma.

The way I see it, Fairfield County, Connecticut, is like one big, incestuous dating pool. It's near impossible to meet someone new, or someone that your girlfriends haven't dated yet. It's the same old crowd you've grown up with, or the guys you went to driver's ed with, whom to this day, their obnoxious, seedy backstories you still can't shake. So what do you do? It's like this age old question that's been looming above my head forever, because living and working in small town Connecticut, our social hot-spots stopped being hot spots the second we threw our fake IDs away.

What are your options? Sure, New York City's one, but traveling back and forth between Connecticut and the Apple is costly, and not really feasible every weekend, unless you've scored yourself a Sugar Daddy, and well in that case, congratulations, I'm jealous. You don't have to live in Fairfield County, Connecticut, though, to feel trapped in the same old social bubble. Despite going to a twenty-thousand something school, UMass' bar scene always remained the same: the drunk a-holes either hung around McMurphy's or Stackers, and it was like, okay, which speech-slurring, Keystone-holding, Pats-donning Minuteman (ha ha ha) looks composed enough to hold a conversation tonight? Eye roll.

If you are doggie-paddling in the same lake as I, you share my dilemma. Well, kids, the harsh reality is that until we are financially independent and free of our childhood ties from home, our chances of meeting newbies are kind of slim. In the meantime, branch out with your buddies. Round up the troops, and try something you've never done before, or don't do often. Bowling? A club far, far from home? A road trip to New Jersey for some good debauchery and a hockey game? The farther you push yourself from what feels close to home (literally and figuratively), the chances that you push yourself into a new opportunity become that much greater.

Hope everyone has a fantabulous weekend. I know I will! ;)
