When I was a little girl, the last accessory I had ever wanted to incorporate full-time into my day-to-day ensemble was a pair of glasses. I'd cross my fingers every night before bed that my eyes would always maintain their ability to see perfectly (20/20, baby) so I would never have to visit the optometrist. To me, glasses epitomized the total nerd. Awkward-looking elementary and middle school students reinforced my disdain for the four-eyed look, and each night I'd come home to my father, who wore the ultimate in geek chic-- vintage bifocals -- which, at the time, embarrassed me more than I could ever express now.
Twenty-three years old, many personal clothing mishaps later, and a whirlwind of multi-decade inspired fashion quickly changed my outlook on the one accessory I came to absolutely adore: glasses. From vintage cat-lenses to tinted ones, I now admire my peers who opt for, and can completely rock, a pair of prescription specs. Not only can I totally dig a guy in shades, but I'm known to rock my very own pair in geek chic on occasion, although I can see just fine.
