I don't exactly celebrate Christmas (okay, I don't at all), but that's never stopped me from indulging in some of St. Nick's favorites, anyway. My family has a bit of a different Christmas tradition, and while I must emphasize different, it's still amazingly fun nonetheless. Plus, the family time doesn't hurt either. We will be hitting the casino for some delicious shrimp cocktail and bananas foster at the Seafood Shack and perusing Swarovski and the music collectibles shop (when I was twelve, I died for the ancient-looking records and an Elvis bobble head), among other stores on the strip. While gambling's never really been my thing, I'll watch the men in my family at the Black Jack tables, and keep my fingers crossed for them (with gin and tonic in hand).
My favorite part of the night, however, is the 3AM fireplace lighting after a long drive home. We seem to have reserved our rustic fireplace for use only during holidays, and that's been just fine with me. Early morning glasses of champagne and sweets (usually my mom springs for chocolate dipped candy-canes -- festive!) are a tradition that I always look forward to, while my other friends are spending long evenings at their family gatherings. Regardless of how you choose to celebrate though, Christmas is always a special time. Hope everybody enjoys, and stays safe!
MERRY CHRISTMAS.
